Ellen Macarthur is a British sailor. Her favourite expression? The phrase "donf", which can be seen on her boat. A sportswoman and environmentalist, she is loved first and foremost for her courage. She She is not afraid to face the ocean alone. Ellen has achieved many sporting feats: she finished second in the Vendée Globe race in 2001, won the Route du Rhum in 2002 and then beat the solo round-the-world sailing record in 2005. And that's just the beginning!
In addition to being an outstanding sportswoman, in 2003 she founded the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, with the aim of helping sick children sail.
Ecology is also a subject close to her heart: in 2010, she created the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. The mission of this organisation is to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. In a few years, the organisation has become influential and has succeeded in putting the circular economy on the agenda of business leaders, governments and academic research on the international scene.
